Pier trains run on a half hourly basis, at the hour and 30 minutes past the hour from 10:30am.  

Southend Pier Railway is a 3 ft (914 mm) narrow gauge railway that runs for 1.25 miles (2.01 km) along the 1.34 miles (2.16 km) length of Southend Pier, providing public passenger transport from the shore to the Pier Head.

The Pier train travels at 8-10mph and when travelling through the points the speed drops to 5mph. The current trains went into service in 2021.
